Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kung Fu? What is Wushu?
The term Kung Fu is often used to describe the Chinese martial arts however, "Kung Fu" can be literally translated to skill, effort, or hard work, whereas the term "Wu Shu" translates to "military art", or martial arts.  Today, the terms Kung Fu and Wushu are often used synonymously.

I'm interested in lessons but do not have any experience; can I still attend your studio?
Most definitely!  We begin all of our students with the basic movements prior to any advanced techniques.  You don't need any martial arts experience to begin!

What is a good age to start Kung Fu?
As soon as a child can follow the instruction, he/she is ready to learn Kung Fu. We have specific programs for 3-5 years old children. So, no matter where you or your child is on the age spectrum – we’ve got you covered.

As an adult, is it too late to start Kung Fu?
Here at our school, the only requirement for training is a strong interest and desire to learn Kung Fu. You always work at your own pace. Our adults/teens program will give you the opportunity to train with people at your own level. The training curriculum has been designed so that you will progress and receive the benefits of martial arts at the most efficient pace possible. Whether your interests involve getting in shape, self-defense or developing your mind to a high level, our school will be able meet your needs.

How do I sign up for a free trial lesson?
We welcome our students to come in for a free trial lesson!  Please take a look at our schedule to see which lesson time works out for you.  Children may attend any of our "Child Beginner/White/Yellow" classes, and adults may attend our "Adult and Teen" lessons.

How many times a week must I attend lessons?
We recommend our students attend classes at least twice a week to maintain the skills that they've learned.  However, we offer various programs ranging from one lesson/week to unlimited program (one lesson per day).

My child is interested in swords!  How long does it take to progress through the belt system?
Progress will vary depending on each individual, from learning styles to the frequency of lessons attended.  Some students progress to the next belt level as quickly as 2 months into their Kung Fu training, whereas others may take upwards of 4-5 months.  We encourage our students to put their best foot forward each time they come to Kung Fu training!
